LEARN TO FENCE CLASSES

En Garde! Calling all pirates, musketeers, and jedi. Olympic Fencing is available to you. The classes are a great opportunity for students looking for a fun activity that combines athleticism and intellect. Fencing emphasizes balance, coordination, and effective decision-making. Like other martial arts, the sport is about personal accomplishment, creative problem-solving, and self-discipline.

If you decide to continue after the trial class the introductory classes are delivered over 3 Terms. Part of the introductory fee includes personal equipment which you receive each term.

All VFA class participants become members of Fencing Victoria, which is a yearly fee

North Melbourne
Fencing is a martial art, it requires focus, self-discipline and problem solving. Fencing emphasizes balance, coordination, and effective decision-making.


60 minute session includes warm-up, footwork, skills and fighting (bouts)


Classes are held on a term basis (8-10 weeks), with enrolment required.


Adults can attend the introductory class Saturday  (Essendon)1.30 - 2.30.


If adults have a child in the class you are welcome to join them.

If you decide to continue after the trial class the introductory classes are delivered over 3 Terms. Part of the introductory fee includes personal equipment which you receive each term.

A glove and Chest protector is included when signing up. 


A mask, jacket and weapon will be available for sessions.


 

Individual Lessons

​Individual Training

Fencing is a martial art, it requires focus, self-discipline and problem solving.

Fencing emphasizes balance, coordination, and effective decision-making.

​

If attendance in the introductory classes is not possible, individual lessons are possible by arrangement. Once a suitable level of skill has been achieved then participation in the group session is encouraged.

​

Working with a coach one on one is a good way to develop and improve your skills, this is the traditional method of developing competition fencers.

​

These sessions can be organised at a time suitable, even during the day.

A glove will need to be purchased after first lesson ($20). 

A mask and weapon will be hired for the first 5 sessions.

After 5 sessions the purchase of a mask, weapon and a bag will be required. If you wish to train a bodywire will also be required.
